- benchmarking OpenSER configuration file in your hands...

Long discussions were risen around performance and optimization of the configuration file along the time. Recently the SVN trunk introduced the benchmark module. It provides administrators the right tools to benchmark execution of OpenSER configuration file.

It is as simple as calling a function to set the time marker and call another one to get the difference. The accuracy is microseconds and can be tunned to nanoseconds when realtime clock is available.

I see a good usage of this module to detect when DNS or DB connection is slow, also, it can be used to try variants of the same functionality, to see what is faster, an I can imagine, everybody will find new use cases for it. I remember the start of the xlog module, as a tool to debug the script, and now is used far beyond that, for traffic analysis, monitoring, etc.
